Liquid Root is an exhibition of paintings and prints that explore a human relationship with water, hinting at fleeting moments, like surface ripples, and deeper, submerged experience. Taking the shifts of perception that occur when entering water as a starting point, the works incorporate our watery beginnings, strange transformations and the exhilarations of being swept up by the sea. I was selected to exhibit at Smith and Gertrude, a wine bar and cafe at Edinburgh's seaside, as part of Portobello Art Walk Weekends. The title of the exhibition is taken from 'In praise of water', a poem by John O'Donohue.
